Adobe, writing, and building my own stage
==> Well… it’s been a minute hasn’t it.
I always say I’d rather being throwing up on stage than been caught sitting in the audience while history is being made.
So I went inside.
I went quiet for a bit because I had something I needed to do. Something that mattered to me. I joined Adobe as VP GM of Adobe Firefly to help stand up their AI efforts => that’s Studio, Boards, Graph, the whole thing. Not just to contribute, but to be right in the middle of it. To see it as it was happening.
To stand on the stage, not watch from the seats.
I met incredible people. I got to work inside a company that, more than almost any other, genuinely cares about the intersection of art and technology. And you can feel that in how they build.
…but it also gave me something in return.
Clarity.
Clarity on where the foundation models are going. Clarity on where AI-native creative software is going. And more importantly, clarity on what comes next for me.
The kind of clarity that connects the circuit and makes the next step obvious.
So after spending time on Adobe’s stage, and after helping a company and a community I care about, I’ve decided it’s time.
Not to leave the stage, but to build my own.
Time to step out on my own.
Time to get back to writing.
And time to start a new company.
More on all of this soon,
Steve
